What Happens in Parent & Me Classes
At The Family Room, our Parent & Me classes are designed to support parents and babies, through connection, community, learning, and play. These weekly baby and parent classes offer education, encouragement, and support for parents.
Whether you are looking for a mommy and me class, infant development class, newborn parent support group, or a place to connect with other local families, our classes create a warm and welcoming space for both parents and children.
While every Series is a little different depending on the age group and stage of development, here’s what you can typically expect in every class:
- ✔ Connection & Community
Parent & Me classes are often where lasting friendships begin! Many families find comfort in being surrounded by others navigating similar experiences and milestones. - ✔ Parenting Guidance
Each week, educators facilitate thoughtful conversations around topics relevant to your stage of parenting from feeding, sleep, routines, developmental milestones, temperament, transitions, and the everyday questions that come with parenting. - ✔ Open Discussion & Questions
One of the most valuable parts of class is the opportunity for honest conversation and peer support. Parents are encouraged to ask questions, share experiences, and learn from one another in a supportive community setting. - ✔ Songs & Bubbles
Circle time includes songs, movement, and of course — bubbles! These playful routines help support language development, social connection, and joyful interaction between parents and babies.
what parents are saying
"The best investment we made as parents was joining The Family Room. We started at 5 weeks with a lot of anxiety and ended the first series at 12 weeks with new skills and more confidence. However, the best thing we gained was a wonderful community."
I highly recommend, especially for a first time parent. The information is helpful super, and it's nice we can ask any questions we want and discuss all topics with the group. But what really is the most valuable thing for me is the community. Our group graduated and we still hang out all the time!
Frequently Asked Questions
What age can my baby start Parent & Me classes?
As soon as you are ready! Many families begin Parent & Me classes during the newborn stage, while others join when their baby is a few months older. You are also welcome to attend class without your baby if you would prefer in the early weeks.
Are Parent & Me classes only for first-time parents?
Not at all. We have an exclusive Second Time Parent & Me program and all our series welcome both first-time and experienced parents. Every child is different, and many returning families enjoy the community, support, and dedicated one-on-one time with their child.
What topics are discussed in class?
Weekly discussions may include sleep, temperament, teething, developmental milestones, starting solids, babyproofing, routines, separation anxiety, transitions, and parent-focused topics, too.
Does registration include both parents?
Unless, noted, registration includes one parent. We love when partners attend a class or two, but space is limited and our goal is to include as many families as possible. If you would like your partner to attend every class and an additional adult fee is not offered (typically only on weekends), you are welcome to purchase two spots.
What should I bring to class?
We recommend bringing diapers, wipes, a change of clothes, feeding supplies, and anything your baby may need during class.
How long are classes?
Our Parent & Me classes are 90 minutes.
Are classes organized by age?
Yes. Classes are grouped by developmental stage so topics discussed and experiences in the group are shared.
What are the benefits of Parent & Me classes?
Parent & Me classes help support early child development, encourage parent-child bonding, provide parent education, and create meaningful community connections with other local families.
Can I join after a session has already started?
Yes, as long as the Series is not sold out!
Where are classes located?
The Family Room offers classes in our two locations: San Marino (Pasadena) and Toluca Lake (Studio City).
How do I register for a class?
You can explore available Parent & Me classes and register online through our website. Early registration is recommended, as classes often sell out!
